Herbert Lee Starks Jr, D.P.T. attained his Bachelors of Science in the study of Kinesiology at Temple University in 2000. He chose to return to Temple for graduate studies and later received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2005. After successfully completing the course work of this top ten program, Dr. Starks sought to diversify his clinical knowledge by experiencing the different philosophical approaches used by west coast practitioners. He moved to the Bay Area of California and accepted his first position at Los Gatos Community Hospital and Rehab Center (LGCH). While at LGCH he had the opportunity to gain valuable rehabilitative knowledge in several settings including:
- inpatient
- orthopedic and geriatric
- outpatient
- orthopedic
- geriatric and aquatics
- acute neuromuscular rehab
Dr. Starks went on to assume the responsibilities of clinical manager at an outpatient clinic and physical therapy coordinator at a skilled nursing facility, both located in underserved areas of California. In the process of assuming these roles, Dr. Starks not only continued to develop as a clinician, but he also proved to be profitable and successful at the administrative levels of physical therapy. In his pursuit to exemplify professional excellence, Dr. Starks has become an active member of the APTA and has devoted himself to the advancement of the profession through mentoring, private practice ownership, and eventually, political involvement. The managerial, business, and clinical savvy that has established Dr. Starks in his current market will be a valuable asset in the development of Novi DPT and his responsibilities as Chief Executive Officer/ Chief of Human Resources and Personnel Development.
