Robert Burns, D.P.T. A native of Detroit, MI. Robert earned a Bachelors of Science in business management from Hampton University in 2001. Dr. Burns received the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the premier program in this country, University of Southern California. After graduating in 2004, Dr. Burns returned to Michigan and proved to be a successful practitioner, educator and administrator in various settings in the Metropolitan Detroit area. Dr. Burns has worked with the University of Michigan MedRehab team in Ann Arbor, the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, and Harper Hospital (divisions of the Detroit Medical Center). Additionally, he has had the privilege of working with some of the top general practitioners, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, neurologists throughout Southeast Michigan. Continuing to set the standard of excellence, Dr. Burns served as the clinical director in an outpatient private practice, before taking over as clinical director and partner at Novi DPT.
Robert is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and is a member of the orthopedic and private practice sections of the organization. Dr. Burns also works with Oakland University (OU), assisting in multiple courses in the OU Doctor of Physical Therapy program. During his tenure he has served as a mentor and educator to students from schools that include: Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, University of Michigan-Flint, School Craft College, Michigan State, Oakland University, Western Kentucky, Grand Valley State University and many high schools in Southeastern Michigan.
Dr. Robert Burns is renowned by his peers for his clinical expertise and his trailblazing ambitions. As the clinical director of Novi Doctors of Physical Therapy, Dr. Burns strives to move the profession forward toward more information-based, evidence-based practices that use all available tools and technologies to improve patient care.
